Skills Building Task: 'Busted' Video exercise

As a preliminary task, we firstly lip synced to Umbrella by
Rihanna and Jay-Z, to learn the importance of lip syncing in videos. We then recreated the first 46 seconds of Busted- That's what I go to school for. This was basically an introductory investigation to see how much planning and work went into the production of a music video as well as working as a larger group.

Planning proved to be extremely useful as it helped us to be more organised with all aspects of creating the video.  We split the tasks between us as a group so that everyone was involved and therefore we finished all the tasks a lot quicker. Because the task was to copy the first 46 seconds, shot for shot.

I learnt a lot more about editing videos and recording the videos during the production stage as we used a different type of camera. In both tasks we also learnt more about being in front of the camera, as previously we were always taking the shots. We frequently swapped rolls so that everyone had a chance to do some filming, but at the same time everyone did some acting, therefore improving our skills at both but also helping us to realise what is needed by the actors.

We used adobe premiere pro again to edit out video which seems to be the best program that we have at our disposal. The advantage of using premier was that as we used it last year I already knew how to use it, so now I can just try to develop my skills even further. This year were again using blogger to present our work all in one place.

This task has given me a better understanding of how important the planning before we film is, and has developed my planning skills ready for the main project.
